Depot Creek Falls is roughly a 1-1.5 hours' drive away from Wanaka. The road surface is always sealed. If you drive from Wanaka, head north-west on the SH-6 (Haast Highway) for 120km until you reach a bridge over the Depot Creek (watch for a sign). Some indications – one minute’ drive away from Orman Falls. There is a small car park on the left side of the road just before the bridge. There are no facilities and no official signs regarding the waterfall there. From the parking follow an unofficial track (upstream) for 2-5 minutes until you reach the waterfall’s base. Return via the same track. The waterfall is stunning after/during rain. Extra care is required in a wet condition because the track can be very slippery. Caution: beware the bees! |
