Walking and driving instructions
One Mile Creek Falls is roughly a 5 minutes' drive away or 1hr 20 minutes’ walk away from Queenstown center. The road surface is sealed. From Queenstown drive towards Glenorchy. On the round-about turn right onto One Mile Creek Paking (next turn after Fernhill Rd). Public toilets are available near the One Mile Roundabout at Fernhill. From the car park follow One Mile Creek Walk. There is a Power Station at the beginning of the walk - you can hear a first waterfall here, just behind the station, but the track is closed due to erosion. Follow the main walk , which is mostly uphill walk, for 20-ish minutes until you reach a track's junction and you'll see a bridge over the One Mile Creek. Don't cross the creek, just follow the main path for 2-5 more minutes until you see a side track (check the photo with pointer at the Gallery below) which brings you to the creek and the waterfall. The track beyond the falls is closed permanently. Return via the same route. The way back is much faster. Total walking time is about 40 minutes. Alternatively, you can continue to walk the whole track which takes roughly 1.5hrs. |
