Walking and driving instructions
Two Mile Creek Falls is roughly a 5 minutes' drive away or 20-25 minutes’ walk away from Queenstown center. The road surface is sealed. From Queenstown drive towards Glenorchy. You have multiple options to park your car. First one is at the One Mile Roundabout at Fernhill; or continue driving along Glenorchy-Queenstown Rd for 500 more meters and park on the left side of the road (there is a small 3-4 car parking there with ‘Sunshine Bay Walk’ sign); or drive 350 meters further towards Glenorchy and park on the top of the hill (left side of the road again, but no signs). There are lots of benches along the track, but no toilets or proper picnic tables. Public toilets are available near the One Mile Roundabout at Fernhill. The walking instructions should you choose the second parking option (if you start from the One Mile Roundabout, just add 5-10 more minutes): walk along the lake for 5-7 minutes, then the uphill section begins. As soon as you reach the first lookout (not the top one), look for a side track (on your left) which leads towards the lake. There is a photo on the Gallery with a finger pointing to the beginning of the side track. It's easy to miss; there are no signs there. If you reach the top of the walk (a bench) and the bridge over the stream - you missed it, walk back for 2 min. The side track - it's about 5 minutes’ downhill walk. Could be quite slippery and dangerous. Take extra care. The waterfall is located near the bay. Quiet place. Relax and enjoy. Return via the same route, or continue on to the main trail (you will need to organize a transport to pick you up from the end of the track). |
