Walking and driving instructions
From Te Anau follow Milford Road (SH94), one of the most scenic and 'waterfalls' roads in New Zealand. The waterfall is about 50 minutes by car from Te Anau. Your stop is right next to State Highway 94, when you reach the Kiosk Creek camp site or Knob's flat where you can park your car or motorcycle. Alternatively, you may choose to travel by bus. There are lots of companies in either Te Anau or Queenstown which have these options. After you have arrived, before you visit Kate's smile, take a minute to look around and breathe in the relaxing flow of the surrounding mountains and nature that welcomes you. Your adventure starts on an easy to follow 'NZ' bush track with a short walk for 10-15 minutes to South-East from Kiosk Creek Campsite or East from Knob's flat. If you ask for directions from P.C. there, he will me more than happy to put you on the right track. Return via the same route. Total walking time is 20-30 minutes. Many thanks to Zoltan and Kate Bozoki for the waterfall's description and photos. Zoltan and his wife Kate, who published this article called this waterfall "Kate's smile". |
