Walking and driving instructions
Christie Falls is roughly a 1.5-hours’ drive away from Te Anau, or 3.5-hours’ from Queenstown. The road surface is always sealed. From Te Anau follow Milford Rd (SH-94) for 89km. There is a small parking near a bridge over the Falls Creek. There are no facilities there. No walking required. The falls is seen from the car park. If you wish, you can explorer the creek upstream – do a challenging tramping Falls Creek Route (2hrs one-way according to DOC). The waterfall is seen from the road (from the bridge), on the left hand side if you drive towards Milford Sound. Many tourists’ buses stop on the bridge to enjoy the waterfall. |
