Walking and driving instructions
Ross Creek Waterfall is located in Dunedin city, and is roughly a 10-15 minutes’ drive away from the city centre. The road surface is sealed. From Dunedin city centre travel north on the SH1 until you reach an intersection with Howe St. Turn left onto Howe St, which becomes Warrender St and then Lachlan Ave. In 1km after leaving SH1 you will reach a ‘V’ junction, keep to the right – Cannington Rd, and follow it for the next 1km. There is a small (6-8 cars) car park on your right with sign ‘Rose Creek Reservoir’. There are no facilities there. From the park entrance follow the only track which leads to the reservoir. It's a steep downhill walk which leads to the Ross Creek. As soon as you reach the creek, turn left and follow the creek for 2 minutes until you reach the falls. It's located on the opposite side of the creek. The waterfall is impressive. Fully visible from the dedicated lookout. Return via the same route, or continue on to the main trail which brings you to the Reservoir. Walk to the falls is about 10 min, the walk back (due to uphill section) is about 20min, so total walking time is about 30 minutes. |
