Twin FallsIn fact two waterfalls under one name, Twin Falls are the first, but not the last waterfalls which meet you on your journey to the Mt Aspiring National Park. Not require any walking because it’s seen from a road.

Walking and driving instructions
Twin Falls are roughly a 20-minutes’ drive away from Wanaka. The road surface is sealed until you reach the first view of the waterfall. The last 2km are a gravel road. From Wanaka follow Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Rd for 18.5km until you see Twin Falls (on the left hand side). The closer you drive, the better the view. But don't go too close! Turn right into the official ‘Diamond Lake Track’ and ‘Lake Wanaka Lookout’ car park. There are no facilities here. Here, you can admit the beauty of the waterfalls from a distance. Also you can climb up the hill to reach Diamond Lake (45-minutes return), or walk the Lake Wanaka Lookout track (2-hours return). You’ll get the great views of the falls while climbing those tracks. As an option, you can try to find the best view while driving on Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Rd. Just park your car on a side of the road and take photos. The falls are located on a private land, hence we’re not sure whether the owners’ permit requires to walk to their bases or not. The access is from a road which leads to Treble Cone Skifield. |
