Walking and driving instructions
Waiheke Falls is roughly a 1 hour 10 minutes’ drive away from Christchurch, or 15 minutes’ from Little River, or just 20 minutes' from Akaroa. The road surface is sealed. From Christchurch travel south-east along the State Highway 75 which leads to Akaroa. The waterfall is seen from a car 15 minutes after you pass Little River village (or 14.1km). There is no official car park there, there is a small pull over area just before the falls which is very easy to miss. From the parking walk along the main road for a minute or so. Extra care is essential as there are lots of cars on the road. You can come very close to the waterfall and take photos. Evening or cloudy day are the best to take great photos. The waterfall is signposted but the sign is on the top of the falls (not on the roadside). Waiheke Falls might have little water (or even dry out completely) during summer. Best time to visit - after a decent rain, or during late Autumn, Winter, early Spring. |
