Walking and driving instructions
Bridal Veil Falls is roughly a 2.5-hours' drive away from Auckland or 1-hour from Hamilton. The road surface is always sealed. If you drive from Hamilton travel east on the SH23 until you see a sign ‘Bridal Veil Falls’, where you need to turn left and follow the signs. There is a relatively big car park on Kauroa-Kawhia Rd with toilets and a beautiful picnic area with a couple of tables. An easy 5-10 minutes Bridal Veil Falls Walk leads to the waterfall’s upper viewing platforms. There are two upper lookouts there which provide exceptional views to this spectacular waterfall. The track is suitable for people of all abilities including wheelchairs and kids strollers. Highly recommended to continue the track (sorry no wheelchairs access) and take a set of steps down to the middle and lower viewing platforms. It will take another 5 minutes to reach the waterfall’s base. Lower Lookout has a shelter which is quite handy during rain or strong wind. Don't forget about the way back! Depending on your level of fitness the way back may take anything between 10 to 25 minutes to return to the carpark. |
