Walking and driving instructions
Ngatea Water Gardens Waterfall is roughly a 1-hour drive away from Auckland, Hamilton or Tauranga. The road surface is always sealed. From Auckland head south on the SH-1, then turn left onto the SH-2 (to Coromandel) and follow it for the next 47 km until you reach Ngatea. Here follow the signs 'Ngatea Water Gardens (turn right into Darlington St, then into Bratlie Pl). Leave your car near Reception where you must buy a ‘Garden Entry’ ticket. The entry prices vary from $4 to $10 per person (2016 year); always check the official site regarding open hours and entry price. From the Reception follow an easy walk through the gardens, just follow the signs. You'll find the waterfall almost at the end of the walk. If you want to walk directly to the waterfall, you'll need to go 'in the opposite direction'. You can walk to the base of the waterfall as well as to its top. The waterfall was built by Roger Blake. It is fed by the 7.5KW pump. "The design caters for all ages; the playground and quiz being favorites with the children. Everchanging with the seasons, these gardens are interesting all year round; so bring along a picnic and these spectacular gardens will make your day!" (c)Ngatea Water Gardens |
