Ross Park Cascade is located in Whangarei city, and is roughly a 5-10 minutes’ drive away from Whangarei city centre, or 2 hours’ from Auckland (no traffic). The road surface is sealed.

From Whangarei (or Acklnad) travel north on the SH-1. Turn right onto Tarewa Rd, which becomes Lower Tarewa Rd, and follow it until you reach a round-about. On round-about drive straight onto Walton St and stay on it for the next 600m, then turn left onto Dent St, then turn right onto Riverside Dr, cross the Hatea River and in 800m turn left onto Dundas Rd. Limited parking (3-4 cars) is reached at the end of the road (about 800m from Riverside Dr). There are no facilities there.

From the end of the road follow Ross Track for 5-10 minutes until you reach a set of wooden stairs and the waterfall. Highly recommend to walk up these stairs, which follow the cascade and lead to its top. The waterfall is very tall and beautiful. It looks really good on photos. There are more cascades accessible downstream from the main waterfall.

Return via the same route, or continue on to the mail track which brings you to Mt Parihaka and Memorial Drive; from here you can walk to Mair Park.

At the base of the fall, there is a cave with glow-worms and wetas - so don't forget your torch :)
