Mangamate FallsA scenic 15 meter, Mangamate Falls is located in Kaimanawa Forest Park. The waterfall is seen from the car park, and it's a perfect place for the rafting.

Mangamate Falls is roughly a 1-hour' drive away from Taupo or 2.5 hours from Palmerston North. The road surface is always sealed. From Taupo head south on the SH-1 for 65 km, then turn left into Kaimanawa Rd and stay on it for the next 2.5 km. Turn left to Beggs Pools. There is a car park at Beggs Pools with toilets (no picnic tables). The waterfalls is visible from the car park. Despite the fact that the waterfall is inaccessible by foot, it's still charming and impressive. If you've got a kayak, you can reach the waterfall's base and, may be, better view of the waterfall. |
