Walking and driving instructions
Henrys Reserve Waterfall is roughly a 50-minutes' drive away from Auckland City (no traffic), or just 10-minutes from Pukekohe. The road surface is always sealed. From Auckland head south on the SH-1, exit onto the SH-22 (to Pukekohe) and follow it for the next 7km, then turn right onto Glenbrook Rd and follow it for the next 2km. Turn left onto Ostrich Rd which becomes Woodhouse Rd. When Patumahoe, turn left one Patumahoe Rd and follow it for 1km, then turn left again onto Hunter Rd. A signposted car park is on your left in 250m from the beginning of the road. There are no facilities there. There are two walks start from the parking. One (on your left) goes through a farmland, and another (on the right) jumps into a bush. Choose the second one which is a well-formed path. The track starts from stairs. You'll hear the waterfall immediately past these stairs. The top of the falls is seen from the track. Walk 1-2 more minutes, and you will see a side track leading to the stream. With care, descend to the stream bed. It's slippery when wet, so extra care is required. The kids must always be supervised. From here, you will see the lower cascades and the waterfall itself. The track ends with a wooden viewing platform - an ideal place to take photos. The waterfall consists of the upper falls, which is roughly 5-7m tall, and the lower cascades. Total drop, including cascades, is about 15m. Return via the same way, or continue on to the track which follows the stream and enjoy the beauty of other cascades downstream. |
