Rere FallsOne of the most charming waterfalls in New Zealand, Rere Falls, surrounded by farmland, is located on the Wharekopae River. The waterfall is accompanied by a perfect picnic area and has a fantastic swimming pool near the falls.

Rere Falls is roughly a 3-hours drive away from Napier or 45-minutes from Gisborne. The road surface is always sealed. From Gisborne take SH 35 westbound, turn right onto Wharekopae Rd and follow it for 30-minutes until you reach Rere Falls car park with toilets and a very nice picnic area. It's just 1-minute easy walk to reach the waterfall's base, although the waterfall may be seen even from the carpark. This waterfall was rated by our family as the most charming New Zealand waterfall. Cycling options: Rere Falls Trail (Grade 3; 1-3 days; 103 km). The trail joins the Motu Trail to provide the ideal cycle link between Gisborne and Bay of Plenty. |
