Te Ana Falls
Te Ana FallsA classic 20-metre horsetail Te Ana Falls is located in the heart of Tangoio Forest, just 30 minutes' drive away from Napier. Te Ana Falls walk can be combined with Tangoio track. Despite the fact that Te Ana Falls is definitely more charming, the walk to Tangoio Falls is absolutely gorgeous, and the falls is stunning after rain.

Walking and driving instructions
Closed due to severe weather eventsThis site is closed until further notice. It is unsafe due to slips and tree falls which have significantly damaged the bridge and walking tracks. Te Ana Falls is roughly a 20-30 minutes' drive away from Napier. The road surface is always sealed. From Napier travel north on the SH2 for 25 km. A huge car park is on your right and well signposted. There are picnic tables there (no toilets). A walking 30-minutes return track starts from the parking, crosses the stream via a footbridge and follows the stream. Te Ana Falls and Tangoio Falls are both accessed from the same starting point. They share the first 10 minutes then head in different directions. From the tracks junction continue to follow the stream until you reach the waterfall's lookout. Return via the same track. If you have enough time you can walk to Tangoio Falls - it will take 15 minutes from the tracks junction to reach the falls. The track can be muddy and slippery. |
