Walking and driving instructions
Eugenie Stream Falls is roughly a 1.5-2 hours’ drive away from Lake Tekapo Village or 1hour 15min from Twizel. The road surface is always sealed. From Lake Tekapo Village travel south on the SH8 for 50 km, then turn right into the SH80 and follow it for the next 54.5 km. Near Aoraki Mount Cook Village turn right into Hooker Valley Rd and follow it for the next 2.2 km until you reach a huge parking at the end of this road. There are picnic tables and toilets available there. From the car park follow Hooker Valley Track – one of the most popular walk in the park. The track passes close to the Alpine Memorial, which is a great viewpoint, crosses the river via a swing bridge and leads to the Hooker Glacier. Almost at the end of the track you'll see the waterfall (on the left hand side). The best view to the waterfall is from the Hooker Glacier terminal lake. The track is relatively easy and doesn’t involve any significant climbing. Return via the same track. In a good weather the Hooker Glacier terminal lake is a great spot for a lunch break. Grab some food/water with you. |
